MSc and PhD positions available

I am actively recruiting graduate students at the MSc and PhD level to conduct laboratory-based research related to transformations of aerosols and environmentally relevant interfacial films. At this time, positions are only open to Canadians or those with Permanent Residency status in Canada.

Opportunities exist for multiple students and potential projects could involve research into micro and nanoplastic containing aerosol, photochemically induced transformations of biomass burning aerosol, or transformations of interfacial films.

I am looking for students with strong backgrounds in one or more of the following areas: atmospheric chemistry, physical chemistry, environmental chemistry, physics, or engineering. Students should be interested in performing experimental studies and open to developing experimental set-ups and data analysis methods. Candidates with prior experience of working in a research environment are desirable as well as candidates with experience working with optics, spectroscopic set-ups, or a Langmuir trough. Furthermore, programming knowledge (e.g. Python, LabVIEW) is advantageous but not required. Students should be highly motivated to learn and able to work independently or as part of a team where appropriate. I am looking for graduate students who are open to building an inclusive, friendly, and supportive team at York.

If you think you may be a good fit, then please email me with a letter detailing your motivation to join the group, a copy of your CV, a copy of your transcript, and contact information for two references. Please note that I will only respond to candidates who meet the criteria described above.
